Erin and Derrick
Erin was at a bar with five of her friends. Derrick and his co-worker came in at a little after midnight. She thought he was very cute and they were looking at each other all night but neither said anything. Erin was getting frustrated, wanting to meet this guy, so she went over and paced behind him wondering if he was going say something to her. Her frustration grew and she could wait no longer so she tapped him on the shoulder and said, “Hi, I’m Erin.” From there, he ended up buying all of our drinks for the rest of the night.
Derrick went to the bathroom and Erin had to leave so she gave his friend Jason her number, asking him to have Derrick call her. But Derrick never called and Erin didn't think twice about it.
The following Friday Erin went back to the same bar with friends but this time, another guy was buying her drinks….and in walks Derrick and Jason. Erin’s friend taps her on the shoulder and says, “Look who’s here.”
Erin really wanted to go over and talk to him but she was already in the middle of a conversation, so she couldn’t. Derrick walked by and says, “Starting trouble?”
Erin replied, “Thanks for calling.”
Derrick said, “I don't call girls who give my friends her number"
“But it was for you,” Erin replied. Derrick asked for the number again but Erin surprised him by saying, “I don’t' give second chances.".
Erin had to play a little hard to get but gave him the number anyway and Derrick called the very next day! When the phone rang, Erin went to answer it. She was getting into the shower and asked Derrick if the number on the caller ID was his number so she could call him back as soon as she got out of the shower. He said, “Yeah, okay…. call me when you are done showering.”
When Erin was done showering, she went to look at her cell phone to call him back but when she did, all the numbers in the phone had been deleted from the incoming calls/outgoing calls/ missed calls. Erin thought, “this never happens” and was freaking out! She called her best friend and, in a panic, said “What do I do?”
Then she thought, “Should I call Verizon and ask about the number?”
She even thought “Should I call the bar and ask about the highest bar tab from last night?”
Anyway, Erin had no way of calling him back and was afraid that he thought she stood him up. She hoped that he would call right back….but no phone call.
Erin had spring break so she went back home to Delaware and was getting ready to go to bed at 2:00 am. Derrick was out drinking thought to himself, “ I am going to find out what happened with her not calling me back.”
So the following morning Erin’s phone rang. She did not recognize the number, but she answered anyway and asked who it was. Derrick said, “I don't know if I should tell you who it is. You might tell me you have to jump in the shower then not call me back.”
Erin responded with, “Like omgsh. I am soo happy you called. Listen… this is what happened…” and explained to him.
Derrick said, “Girl, I was about to say that you gave me your number twice and told me you were going to call me back” but I thought he should give her another call.
From this point on, Erin and Derrick have been together.
